These Are The Digital Trends You Need In 2017

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/TmszV3o7Uzc/these-are-the-digital-trends-you-need-2017

As 2016 is coming to an end, entrepreneurs are already planning their moves for 2017. For site owners and bloggers, this means planning your marketing. As the last years saw dramatic changes in SEO due to Google’s updates, having a plan for the next year is crucial if you want to outperform your competition. You need to be ready to adjust your strategies along the way, but having a strategy in the first place is a must. In order to plan, you have to know the latest trends for 2017, so here they are.

The return of technical SEO

If you don’t know what is technical SEO, don’t despair—most people don’t know what it is. Technical SEO refers to monitoring and improving your site’s indexation, the sitemap and continuously monitoring and updating your links. One can use this type of SEO to improve the site’s ranking and help the search engine crawlers find your site easier.

Social media becomes the primary ad channel

As Facebook and Instagram opened the way in placing one ad on two different channels, paying attention to social media for your campaigns will be very important in 2017. Youtube and Linkedin are two other channels that can be used to advertise your products or ideas, so don’t skip them.

Video marketing will definitely gain more importance than image marketing, but document sharing is what you want to try for marketing, as 2017 will be the year of online sharing, especially because you can target specific groups.

Enhance the experience with virtual realty

Content was king in the past years and it will remain king, but experience will also grow in importance. Simply providing the content for your audience is not enough; you have to change how you reach your audience. Of course, virtual realty (VR) is a main candidate, as it allows the user to immerse and interact with the content in a never-before-seen way. A successful campaign in 2017 is going to be one that mixes brand awareness, great content and smart delivery (which may include VR).

Dense content over long articles

As everyone’s attention becomes more and more limited, content is going to follow and become denser. Long and well structured content was favored until now. In 2017, short and dense content is going to be favored. This comes as an adaptation to the fact most readers only browse the internet in short sessions and want to read short and high value content.

Accelerated mobile pages is expected to grow

Google initiated a project meant to make the web more mobile friendly. Their project is called Accelerated Mobile Pages, and features a set of standards for web pages, meant to transform the user experience when browsing from a mobile device. For site owners and bloggers this means you have to stay up to date with the new standards and ensure you have a mobile version of your site. Having a mobile version will also ensure better visibility in Google searches as the crawlers are now going to favor sites which have a mobile version and even rank them based on it.

Personal branding remains a secret weapon

Personal branding done right can bring you a lot of benefits, yet few people and companies know how to effectively use this technique. For 2017, aim to master personal branding, as it has the power to transform your online presence. Just look at all the Youtube bloggers who are using personal branding to earn a living, even if they don’t sell any products or services.

Personal branding is a powerful way to make sure your online marketing campaigns are successful because a strong brand ensures high engagement rates, which brings traffic to your site.

The Power of Positive Affirmations

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/5XX94N12kQ4/the-power-positive-affirmations

This topic has been covered by motivational speakers and has become popular throughout the years. I believe we are currently in a spiritual revolution where increasingly more people are practicing meditation and relaxation. In other words, Eastern medicine is becoming more popular through mainstream media, as we see more of it on television. However, people still don’t know what is meant by the phrase “positive affirmations”. Here’s a quick definition:

An affirmation is really anything you say or think. A lot of what we normally say and think is quite negative and doesn’t create good experiences for us. We have to retrain our thinking and speaking into positive patterns if we want to change our lives.”- Louise Hay

It brings you a new beginning and changes your thought patterns, opening up opportunities you never knew existed before. However, that’s not all, as you’ll learn below.

It Beats Depression

The power of positive thinking has been known to beat depressive thoughts. Depression has many causes, however, thoughts of low self-esteem, not being worthy, or even good enough, definitely plays a role. By saying positive affirmations you can change your thought process.

There was research done at the University of Arizona that determined affirmations can be useful as a supplemental form of treatment for many depressed and/or anxious patients. What’s even more exciting is that for some patients, affirmations were the most influential part of their recovery process.

Some of the best ones used to beat depression are the following—

  • I am strong
  • Life wants the best for me
  • I love myself and who I am
  • I love myself unconditionally

To make the most of these statements, you must repeat them whenever a negative thought enters your mind.

It Enlightens People Around You

Positive affirmations help motivate people around you. Being around positive people will transform you and your energy. Many times we are depressed or negative because we fight our own thought process. Being around people with positive energy can change your thought process quickly.

Keep positive people in your life and try to spend as much time with them because it will transform your overall energy quickly.

It Transforms Businesses

Motivational speakers l,ike Anthony Robbins and Deepak Chopra, have made millions writing about positivity. It’s important to note they have done a great job and have transformed people’s lives. There are stories of people who couldn’t run a successful business and then transformed their company within a short period after changing their mentality. In other words, there is enormous money in positive affirmations and businesses know this.

Online developers are also making enormous money by selling positive affirmation apps for the smartphone. It helps that nearly 75% of the world’s population has a mobile phone capable of downloading applications. It’s an amazing market and things don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

It Strengthens Relationships

Through positive affirmation, it’s easier to transform your relationships with others. The power of positive thinking can flourish new relationships, old ones, and those which have tension between them. Perhaps it’s because positivity changes the way people think, eliminating old habits and building new, more mutually beneficial ones.

Final Thoughts

The power of positive thinking and incorporating positive affirmations in your life can change the way you view situations. It’s amazing how fast this practice is growing and much of it is because of mainstream media. We have motivational shows, as well as talk shows and even TV series that feature meditation. If you have not started to incorporate positive affirmations in your life that’s your choice; however, look into them to see how transforming and powerful they are.

What I learned After Sending 100,000 Newsletters

Posted from http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/JohnChowDotCom/~3/IrfJX-3ct3o/

No one can argue with the power of newsletters and how effective they are in getting re-visitors to your blog. Neil Patel stated himself it’s impossible to get 100,000 people to your blog a month without an active email campaign. However, you need to have the right elements in place when sending emails. What good are emails if they don’t get opened and people don’t click on the “call-to-action”? I’ve worked with over 20 people in the last year many of them large business owners. They would often consult me on SEO and effective email marketing. Last year, with “2” of my clients, I sent out 100,000 newsletters over the course of 11 months and learned a few cool things.

Let’s get started…

Duration

When sending emails you have to be careful because sending too many can overwhelm the subscriber. You have to figure out the right frequency and it should depend on the following factors.

  • How often you update content.
  • How valuable the content.
  • The day and time sent during the week.

If you update content daily then send an email every week with a breakdown of the content published last week. This way the subscriber can choose which one they find engaging. Sending emails everyday when you publish might NOT be appealing especially when your content isn’t always up to par. Next,

It’s important to send the breakdown email on a Tuesday since this is still the beginning of the week and people have cleaned out their junk emails normally done on Monday.

Go Mobile

We knew that 44% of people visiting the website were surfing through their mobile phones. Installing Google Analytics in the backend will provide you with device information. This is why it was more important to ensure our newsletters are mobile-friendly. If we didn’t make them mobile compatible then that’s a potential 44% of visitors NOT engaging with our website. The good news is that ESP’s like Aweber.com make it very simple to create mobile-friendly newsletters and even provide you default templates.

We saw an impressive 77% open rate on newsletters sent.

Always Reply

One of my customers wanted feedback so sent out a newsletter asking a simple question: What do you think about our new web design? Many people responded and we made it a point to respond to every email message that came through. We received several emails back acknowledging our replies and they even mentioned they would visit the website more often. The lesson is…

To always reply back to emails your getting in response to newsletters. Many people when they get a reply back will appreciate the effort and this will build loyalty going forward. As a matter of fact, after the 11 month trial, we actually saw an increase in traffic.

Add First Name

This is very important and we doubled our open rates by simply adding a first name. The next time you send out emails it’s important to always include their first name in the subject line. It’s NOT only professional, but builds a level of respect. People also acknowledge messages with their first name because it’s a personal touch. Here’s something else,

Include your domain name when sending messages because it builds brand awareness and people are more incline to open emails from companies they recognize. We split tested both options and doubled our open rates adding first name. When we tested newsletters by adding and removing company URL, the results were very impressive. 20% more people opened newsletters when domain name was included and we attribute this to people simply recognizing us as a reputable source.

Wrapping It Up…

These were the biggest things we learned after sending out 100,000 newsletters. When trying to figure out the right date and time, it will really depend on your niche. However, as a blogger your better off sending on weekdays preferably on Tuesday and Wednesday because weekends people tend to be away from their email. They also want to avoid any contact with work during their time off.

6 Tips to Make the Most of Your Used Gadgets

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/HXhUiy1V6Vc/6-tips-make-the-most-your-used-gadgets

The new iPhone 7 has been available for less than four months, and already the web is aflutter with speculation and leaks about the next generation of iPhones. In a world of planned obsolescence for all the tech gadgets that seem vital to our everyday pursuits, it comes as no surprise that pretty much everyone has a few hundred dollars worth of “outdated” electronics lying around.

There’s good news for anyone looking to sell their older model devices for some cold hard cash. An ever-growing market of secondary and refurbished devices means it’s become easier and easier for people to sell older models they no longer need either via trade-in websites like Stopoint and Amazon or via classified portals like Craiglist or eBay. But with so many retailers, businesses, and independent sales platforms, what’s the best way to get the most money out of that old smartphone? Here are six tips for maximizing the trade-in or resale value of your used gadgets and devices.

1. Looks Matter

Your scratched up device isn’t going to fetch a great price on the resale market, even if it works like brand spanking new on the inside. While some normal wear and tear is expected, the better your device looks, the more value it will have. Think of it in terms of Amazon ratings. Is your device Like New, Very Good, Good, or Barely Acceptable? That’s why it’s smart to invest in some quality cases for your device. Go for durability and function, not aesthetics. That clear PCU case with the floral print might look pretty, but it’s not doing much to preserve the pristine shell of your phone or tablet, nor will it prevent a giant crack on the screen from an accidental drop. Make sure the protective covering you choose protects against scratches, falls, and water to minimize wear and tear.

2. Keep All Original Packaging

Speaking of looks, making sure you have the original box, instructions, dongles and accessories can increase the value if you decide to sell it to a private third party. It just provides more reassurance to them that the product was taken care of, and it feels more legitimate. If you don’t have any of the original packaging, fear not, as there are plenty of websites who buy used devices as-is for recycling purposes.

3. What’s on the Inside Counts Too

Just in case you thought a pretty face was all you needed, the inside of your device matters too in terms of resale. Always keep your operating systems up to date, with the latest patches and improvements. Any hacks or viruses can damage the internal specs of the devices and seriously diminish resale value. If you can, avoid jailbreaking or hardware modifications that can compromise the internal hardware and software. If you have the technical know-how, return your device to its original factory settings before attempting to sell it – it can give it a little performance and value boost while simultaneously mitigating any concerns about personal data on your device.

4. Keep Up with Routine Maintenance

Oil, dust, and other microparticles will invariably collect on or in your device. Even a regular wipe down with a microfiber cloth is better than nothing. Regular battery and hardware checks are also essential to ensure your device is in the best condition it can be when you choose to sell. And always keep your device away from extreme weather and temperature conditions to avoid premature deterioration. If your device allows for modifications to change the battery or other hardware, doing so may bring in more value than selling it as is.

5. Timing Is Crucial

Know when to sell. The value of a used product diminishes each time a new model is out. In some instances, it’s possible to upgrade with minimal cost if you know when to sell and where to sell. For instance, if a new iPhone model is set to be announced in October, aim to sell your current model before the new model hits the retail stores; there may be a rush of people trying to sell once the new model is available, driving down prices.

6. Choosing the Right Channel to Sell

While it might be tempting to list your items on eBay or Craigslist, be careful when calculating the resale value of your items. Many sites that allow you to list your own products will take a portion of the selling price, not to mention transaction fees from credit cards or PayPal. There is also a greater risk of getting scammed out of your items by shady buyers. Retailers will often have trade-in programs, but those tend to offer lower value than independent trade-in sites (and depending on the condition of your item, some will offer you no money at all, simply a free “recycle” service). Fortunately, there are trustworthy third party websites that are likely able to offer the best resale value for your device without the risk and hassle of listing it yourself. Shop around and look for ones that match competitor quotes for the best deals on your used device.

4 Powerful Methods to Reach Financial Success In Life

Posted from http://addicted2success.com/success-advice/4-powerful-methods-to-reach-financial-success-in-life/

In life, one of the major goals for many people is to be financially successful so they can live life without worrying how they’re going to pay their next bill. Financial independence isn’t created overnight.

You’ll find, those who are financially successful, are those who have worked hard a majority of their lives to get to where they are now. If you’re tired of living pay cheque to pay cheque, this expert guide will give you the powerful methods to reach financial success in life without worrying about money.

Here are 4 ways to become financially successful in life:

1. Ignore The Status Of Others

You may have heard the saying ‘keeping up with the Joneses’. It’s important that when you want to reach financial success that you ignore the status of others. You don’t need to keep up with what others are doing.

Your friends may be spending large amounts of money on insignificant things, this doesn’t mean you have to do the same. Many people fall into the trap of keeping up with others who are living the high life. The problem with this is that it can drain your funds quickly. You need to remember that although their lifestyle and income may be a lot different than yours, when it all comes down to it, no one cares about what you drive, where you live, or how you dress.

They care more about how you treat them. When you stop comparing yourself to others and focus on your own financial well being instead, you’re on the right path to becoming more successfully free in life.

“The single most powerful asset we all have is our mind. If it is trained well, it can create enormous wealth in what seems to be an instant.”
Robert T. Kiyosaki

2. Only Spend What You Need To

Another area where many people fall short is spending more money on things they want, rather than things they need. Many people use their money on items that aren’t really needed. If you focus on spending only what you need and use the rest of your money to pay down debt, or placing it in savings, you’ll find that over time you’ll be in a much better financial state.

A good way to work out how much you can afford to save is by:

  • Tracking your income and what you make every month.
  • Deducting your important expenses such as water, electricity, food and house rates etc.
  • Keep a small amount for spending on yourself otherwise you will become stale. Spending $20 a week or fortnight is much better than spending $70.
  • Place any additional funds, even if it’s $10, into a savings account.

Before making your next purchase, ask yourself, do you really need this or do you merely just want it?

3. Avoid Unnecessary Debt

Many people fall into the trap of taking out a loan in order to upgrade something that really doesn’t need to be upgraded at that time. Examples of this include upgrading a car, buying a new boat, or renovating the home. The key here is to decide whether or not you can wait and save the money first.

Think positively about money and debt . The process of becoming financially secure is all about thinking positively about money and how you will get out of debt. It’s a good idea to sit down and really analyze your income and debts to see where your money is coming from and where it is going.

Consider what we call good debt and bad debt.  Good debt is where you may have a loan on an investment property and, depending on your circumstances, may be eligible to access some taxation concessions. Bad debt on the other hand, is a high interest debt that simply eats away at your income such as credit card debt or purchases made on a store card.  Focus on paying down bad debt first.

4. Rewrite Your Life Goals and Create A Strategy

Last but not least, it’s important to set major financial life goals that you want to work towards. When you write down your goals you’ll begin to understand what’s required to make them become a reality.

Some things to ask yourself when you’re thinking about your goals:

  • Where do you want to be in 5 years/10 years/retirement?
  • Are there any foreseeable expenses that will emerge that may affect your ability to reach your goals? Such as children’s education or caring for elderly parents.
  • Do you have any debts that will need to be paid off before you reach your goals?
  • How much income will you need to achieve your goals?
  • Do you have any family or other dependents that rely on you?
  • What would happen to your family and dependents should you lose your source of income?
  • Are your goals realistic given your financial resources?

“Obstacles can’t stop you. Problems can’t stop you. Most of all, other people can’t stop you. Only you can stop you.” — Jeffrey Gitomer

Becoming financially successful is all about the road you take to get there. Even just making some small changes such as reining in credit card spending, paying off credit card debt and starting a savings plan can make a significant difference to your financial well being.

To achieve larger goals such as planning for a comfortable retirement, it’s worthwhile speaking to a qualified financial adviser. A financial adviser can help you to define your goals and work with you on a financial strategy that’s designed to make your goals become a reality.

What are you doing to reach financial success in your life? Please leave your thoughts below!

AdsBridge Maximizes Your Affiliate Potential

Posted from http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/JohnChowDotCom/~3/x2IXCKYIDs4/

If you build it, they will come. And they will click. And they will convert and buy and provide a never-ending supply of residual income for you. If only affiliate marketing were quite so simple. The truth of the matter is that you need to arm yourself with the right data so you can continue to optimize your campaigns and maximize your profit. So, how do you do that?

In today’s review, we’ll be taking a look at AdsBridge. It aims to provide comprehensive, cloud-based affiliate software that can tackle every aspect of your affiliate marketing efforts from building landing pages to tracking traffic.

An Affiliate Marketer’s Toolbox

You may recall when we took our first look at AdsBridge last year. At the time, it was being offered in open beta for free, but it has since graduated into a full launch, replete with features and tools that every affiliate marketer will want.

The goal here is to offer a “full cycle solution for affiliate marketers,” running through the entire process that you’ll need to get started, run, and optimize your affiliate marketing campaigns. The solution is 100% cloud hosted, so this means that you don’t need to install any software on your computer and you’re not tied down to any single location. All you need is a browser.

Among the key features are not only the ability to target the right traffic for the offers you wish to promote, but also to split-test and redirect that traffic for maximum revenue potential. There’s a built-in landing page creator, five global data centers for fast redirects, and an automatic optimization tool to eliminate the guesswork.

A Large and Expansive Dashboard

Not a lot has changed with the main dashboard since the last time we looked at AdsBridge. The main navigation is all located along the left sidebar and that’s where you’ll gain access to the wealth of tools.

The initial page displays an overview of all your campaigns, including top campaigns, top traffic sources, number of total visits, total conversions, total earnings, ROI percentage and so on. Of course, if you want to dig deeper into any of these statistics — and you likely will — you can always access the more robust reports through this tool too.

It can be easy to get overwhelmed with just how much you can do with AdsBridge, as several of the sections in the sidebar further expand into subsections. You’ll need to add your affiliate networks, traffic sources, offers, landing pages, domains and so on. Should you need any help at any time, try using the campaign wizard near the top or hit the happy face in the lower corner to chat with support, which is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm GMT. They say typical replies are in a few hours.

Optimizing All Your Campaigns

Essentially, the way that AdsBridge works is that you populate your account with all your variables — domains, networks, traffic sources, etc. — and the system can optimize your campaigns by redirecting traffic and split-testing, among other mechanisms.

This can take a considerable amount of time to get started, especially if you are running a large number of traffic sources, offers and so on. Each page to add each element is very straightforward and easy to understand. What you see above is the page to create an offer, for instance. Just rinse and repeat for everything you’re running.

Filtering Out the Bots

AdsBridge boasts many features. Some of these are automatic and some of these are manual. For instance, you likely don’t want to be paying for bot traffic, because that will never convert and you’re just throwing away your advertising budget.

Thankfully, AdsBridge has a bot filter. You can set it to detect proxies by default, filtering that traffic through to a particular URL. In addition, you can set as many specific redirect rules as you’d like, based on country, language, traffic type, IP address, ISP and more.

Creating Landing Pages

As mentioned in our earlier review, AdsBridge also comes with a very robust landing page creator. You can make one from scratch if you’d like or you can leverage the numerous templates to get started.

There are pre-made templates for practically every vertical and they all look very professional and ready to convert. Interestingly, you can also set your landing page to promote multiple offers if you’d like. This is another way that you can experiment with maximizing your profit potential.

Pricing Plans

AdsBridge offers a number of plan options to fit the budget of almost affiliate marketer.

After the 30-day free trial, monthly plans start as low as $25/month (when you bill annually) for the starter plan. I would recommend going up to at least the professional plan ($75/month when billed annually) as this unlocks one million visits each month, plus unlimited access to the landing page editor with ready-to-use templates. It’s also at that level that you get the automatic campaign optimization, which should quickly pay for itself.

How to Login to Your WordPress Site

Posted from http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/tipsandtricks-hq/~3/NhQC1x2oMhU/how-to-login-to-your-wordpress-site-8857

This is a tutorial for the video answers to top WordPress questions series that we have been publishing on this site to help users get started with WordPress.

In this tutorial, you will learn:

  • The typical way to gain access to your WordPress Dashboard, and how to change your password if you have forgotten it.
  • How to change the location of your web site login form to keep it hidden from potential hackers.
  • How to change the default “admin” username so that potential hackers will not have half of your login credentials up front!
  • How to generate secure passwords, and store your passwords in a secure password and login manager.

Resources discussed in the video:

  • All In One WP Security & Firewall plugin
  • LastPass.com Password Manager

Steps to Login to WordPress and Secure the Login Process

  1. To login to your self hosted WordPress web site, you simply append wp-login.php to the end of your web site address.
  2. Enter the username or email address for your account. Enter the password. Click Login.
  3. If you forgot your password, click the Lost your password link. Type in the username or email address for your account, and click Get New Password. Follow the steps in the email that you receive to create a new password.
  4. After logging in, you will land in the Dashboard area.

I will now offer 3 security tips related to your WordPress login:

Tip #1

  • First, I want to point out that WordPress hackers know the default login location to a WordPress site, and may automate attempts, or manually try, to login to your site. You can use a plugin like the All In One WP Security & Firewall plugin by Tips & Tricks HQ to change the location of the login page to something only you remember.
  • After performing the following steps, you may need to contact your web host to make certain that caching is not enabled on this renamed login page.
  • To rename the login page, first install the security plugin from the Plugins / Add New menu in your WordPress Dashboard. Just search for All In One WP Security & Firewall while you are in there and it should be the first one to come up. Click Install Now, and then Activate.
  • Next, locate the WP Security menu near the bottom of the WordPress menu in the Dashboard. Hover over it, and choose the Brute Force option.
  • Enable the Rename Login Page Feature by selecting the box. Specify the new name in the Login Page URL box, and click the Save Settings button.
  • Now you have a URL that only you know to be able to login to your WordPress web site.

Tip #2

  • Now, if you want to be extra cautious, it’s a good idea to change the default username for WordPress to something other than admin. You can use the previously installed WP Security plugin to make this change.
  • Go back to the WP Security menu, and click User Accounts.
  • Within the List of Administrator Accounts you will see the admin account highlighted in red if it exists.
  • Enter a new username for this account in the New Admin Username box, and click the Change Username button.

Tip #3

  • Next, it’s important that you have a very secure password for your WordPress web site. I highly recommend using a tool like LastPass to create strong passwords, and then store your login details. This includes the Login URL, the username, and the password. You can then password protect your LastPass with a more memorable password, and that will be the only one you need to remember. LastPass can be setup to auto-login to your web site thereafter. It’s a free tool when used on just one device.
