We all know how annoying hiccups can be. They always seem to come at the most inconvenient times and overstay their welcome, but there are some easy ways to get rid of hiccups once you understand what causes them. Hiccups are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm, occurring at the same time as a contraction in the larynx and blocking air intake. This can be caused by a number of things including sudden excitement or stress and overeating or eating too quickly. There are many different techniques used to stop hiccups and some of them are more effective than others, but here are some of the best ways to end hiccups in any situation.
1. Hold your breath
Breathing techniques are a great way to relax your diaphragm and get rid of hiccups. Try holding your breath for about ten seconds at a time and exhale slowly, repeating three or four times. The build-up of carbon dioxide in your lungs will help relax your diaphragm and beat those hiccups.
2. Breathe into a paper bag
To increase the carbon dioxide, you can also breathe into a paper bag. This is believed to work in a similar way, but increases the carbon dioxide and allows you to focus on the bag and forget about your hiccups.
3. Compress your chest
Gently compress the chest by leaning forward and putting pressure on your diaphragm. Alternatively, this can be achieved by hugging your knees to your chest for a couple of minutes. These also take your mind off of the hiccups and help focus on something else while relaxing your diaphragm to relieve the hiccups.
Drink your way to relief
4. Take quick sips of water
Sometimes it really can be that simple. When you take a drink, your esophagus undergoes rhythmic contractions which override the contractions of the diaphragm that cause hiccups. Take few quick sips of water in a row to build this rhythm. Sometimes it can also help to drink one large sip of water very slowly to relax your diaphragm and also redirect your focus. These techniques can be discrete and easy to do if you get hiccups in public.
5. Drink water from the far side of a glass
One old wives’ tale that proves to be successful is drinking water from the far side of a glass. While standing, bend over and put your mouth on the far side of the glass. As you bend, drink from the glass as it tilts away from you. While this technique is a little more obvious, it’s proven to be helpful when trying to stop hiccups.
6. Stick your fingers in your ears
Applying pressure to the vegus nerve can also help, so try sticking your fingers in your ears and drinking through a straw. Putting your fingers in your ears presses on the vegus nerves and the steady swallowing of drinking through a straw helps relax the diaphragm.
Stop hiccups before they start
7. Eat slowly
The best way to conquer hiccups is by taking some preventative measures to help avoid them altogether. While there is no one cause for hiccups, there are many factors that can contribute to them, especially if you seem to get hiccups frequently or at similar times. Eat slowly. Eating quickly can cause discomfort from indigestion and gas build-up as well as causing hiccups so try to take your time.
8. Drink carbonated beverages slowly
Carbonated beverages can also irritate the diaphragm, especially when consumed quickly with big gulps, so try to drink slowly and in moderation.
9. Stop overeating
Take caution with how much you eat. Overeating can overload your digestive system by not allowing it enough time to process all of the food, causing hiccups.
10. Stop consuming stimulating foods and drinks
Spicy food causes extra acid to leak into the esophagus, which can bring on hiccups. Similarly, alcoholic beverages can irritate the esophagus with big gulps causing the esophagus to rapidly expand.

Blood sugar is a sneaky health issue, but there are many powerful foods that can help you lower blood sugar levels efficiently and quickly. First, in order to understand why high (and low) blood sugar occurs, it’s important to have a basic understanding of what triggers blood sugar highs and lows, and it all starts with insulin. Insulin is the hormone that goes into our blood stream and delivers nutrients to the cells so that our blood sugar stays stable. While insulin is often thought of as a negative hormone, it’s actually valuable and vital to our health. When our body doesn’t produce insulin or use insulin efficiently, we can develop insulin resistance which can lead to Type 2 diabetes. One of the best things we can all do in order to help insulin do its job is to eat regularly and eat a balanced diet that’s filled with healthy foods.
Start With These Tips to Lower Blood Sugar Levels
To help you get started on filling your plate with more blood sugar friendly foods that will help lower your blood sugar, start by removing refined sugar, refined grains, and most processed foods from your diet. Processed foods (and especially fast food) all contain chemicals and refined ingredients that our bodies don’t recognize as real nutrients, so our cells never really get what they need and we feel hungry all the time as a result. This also leads to blood sugar swings and spikes that cause insulin to work less efficiently.
What helps insulin work best so that blood sugar stays in a stable place are foods that pack dense amounts of nutrition and contain amino acids (that form protein in the body), fiber (which is the best source of carbohydrates), and healthy fats from real food.
Let’s check out some foods that can help lower blood sugar levels by offering us these nutritional benefits, shall we?
Spinach is high in amino acids and actually has 5 grams of protein per cup. Spinach is also a rich source of the minerals calcium, magnesium, and potassium which all lower blood pressure levels, and it is a good source of fiber to help lower blood sugar. Fiber, protein and minerals are three wonderful components that help balance insulin levels and help the body feel more nourished.
Add spinach to your smoothies, salads, entrees, and remember that while kale is fantastic, spinach offers more overall nutrients per cup than any other green!
Avocados are a superfood for so many reasons, but they’re especially great to lower blood sugar levels. The avocado fruit is a rich source of monounsaturated fats which are the best type of fats for your heart. Avocado is also a good source of fiber, amino acids, B vitamins, minerals such as magnesium and potassium, and it’s a great replacement to foods such as mayo and cheese—especially for those with diabetes or food intolerances.
Chop some avocado into your next smoothie for a creamy texture, add it to a salad, use it in place of mayo or cheese, or feel free to add it to your next omelet. Used in moderation and in place of processed fats, this fruit can be an amazing addition to your diet.
Eggs have had a bad reputation for years, but the truth is they can be a very valuable part of a balanced diet and are a wonderful source of meatless protein, healthy fats, and vitamins such as vitamin B12 and vitamin D. The key is to consume them in moderation (no more than a couple a day), and to buy the highest quality eggs possible such as pastured, organic and non-GMO eggs. Eggs work to lower blood sugar levels very well because they are generally very easy to digest so that nutrients reach the cells quickly and help lower blood sugar levels as a result.
Keep some hard-boiled eggs in your fridge and have one when your blood sugar feels too high or stops to drop. You can also include eggs at breakfast, lunch, or dinner for lower blood sugar levels throughout the day. Egg whites can also be paired with one or two whole eggs for more protein without overdoing the fat from whole eggs.
Broccoli is packed with benefits that lower blood sugar levels. First, it’s a great source of fiber that slows down the release of sugar from foods into our cells. Even if we’re not eating sugar directly, everything we consume is eventually turned into glucose that our bodies use to energize us. However, it’s best to eat foods that turn into glucose slowly so that we get a steady release all the time and not intense swings that we get from eating sweets or junk food. Fiber is a key to maintaining healthy blood sugar levels all the time as well as digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
No need to nosh on broccoli raw or eat like a rabbit; have broccoli whatever way you enjoy whether that be roasted, steamed with spices and your favorite source of protein, use it in a stir-fry with lean protein, broth and some other veggies, or sauté it to have with your regular dinner. It can also be added to salads and is one of the most affordable and nutritious vegetables available all year round.
5. Plain, Non-fat Greek Yogurt
Plain, non-fat Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Of course, if you are dairy intolerant or vegan, Greek yogurt isn’t for you, but if you’re incorporating dairy into your diet, high-quality sources can serve as an excellent source of protein in place of fatty cuts of meat or processed sources. Greek yogurt’s nutrients lower blood sugar levels as well as satiate appetite very quickly. Purchase from non-GMO and organic sources whenever possible for the best quality, and avoid yogurt products with added hormones or antibiotics as well as any that have added sugars or artificial ingredients.
You can use Greek yogurt in place of milk in a smoothie, in place of sour cream for less fat in dips and dressings, or use it as a base for sandwiches instead of mayo. It can also make a wonderful dessert with berries and can be frozen for an hour to serve as a more ice-cream like treat at night. If the taste is too sour for your liking, feel free to add some stevia to sweeten it up without any added sugar.
Almonds offer more protein than other types of nuts as well as more fiber and overall nutrition. This makes them an excellent choice for lowering blood sugar levels and even blood pressure levels too. Almonds include 7 grams of protein, 3 grams of fiber, and only 1 gram of naturally occurring sugar per ounce. They are also packed with magnesium and potassium that help lower blood sugar and blood pressure levels. Almonds even offer a little calcium, iron and zinc too!
One ounce of almonds is equal to about 22 nuts and makes the perfect serving size as a snack throughout the day. You can also add slivered almonds to meals like salads, stir-fries and even oatmeal if you wish. Or, pair it with some of that Greek yogurt mentioned above for a filling snack or light breakfast.
7. Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are tiny in size, but they offer big benefits that you won’t want to miss out on! Chia is a great source of amino acids that provides protein, fiber which lowers blood sugar levels, and nutrients such as magnesium, calcium and iron. Chia seeds are also rich in omega-3 fats that our hearts and metabolisms need to stay healthy. These same fats also fuel our brains and help us feel more balanced throughout the day.
Another benefit of chia is that it’s so easy to incorporate into your meals because it is tasteless, yet it helps thicken up anything it’s added to once it sets for a bit. Because of its gel-like consistency, chia is fun to add to oatmeal and smoothies, or you can even include it in your salad dressings and soups.
Though it doesn’t sound very appealing, wheatgrass is actually a bit sweet and one of the most power-packed foods you can eat for better blood sugar levels as well as detoxification and digestion. Wheatgrass is also gluten-free because it comes from a grass and not the actual grain that wheat is made from. It is a rich source of amino acids, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll, the pigment that makes it so beautifully green in color. Chlorophyll is one of the most overlooked nutrients for lowering blood sugar levels quickly and is found in densely green foods.
Wheatgrass can be consumed as a shot, used in the form of wheatgrass juice powder, or can be bought whole at any health food store and juiced or used in smoothies. I find that a greens powder made with raw and organic wheatgrass juice is the easiest and tastiest way to use it, but many people enjoy using the whole wheatgrass in their daily routines. Whatever way you choose to use wheatgrass, don’t give up on it the first time you try it. It can be an amazing food to lower your blood sugar levels as well as improve your overall diet, hair, and even skin appearance too.
9. Wild Fish
Wild fish is packed with health benefits including lean protein, iron, healthy fats, and B vitamins along with minerals like magnesium and potassium. Fish is a great food to lower blood sugar levels because of its overall nutrition, but remember to purchase lean options like wild salmon, tilapia, halibut, tuna, and avoid those that are fried or coated in breadcrumbs or high amounts of oil. It’s also very important to choose wild fish over farmed to avoid toxic pollutants, mercury, and pesticides.
Fish can be consumed for lunch or dinner, and if you’re into savory breakfast, it even makes a great part of omelets or served over greens. Or bake it, chill it, and use it to make salmon or tuna salad!
Lentils are packed with lean protein, iron, potassium, and fiber which makes them an overall incredible food to lower blood sugar levels. Lentils are also a good source of antioxidants, are very affordable, and offer a creamy and nutty texture that makes them delicious. One of the biggest benefits of these legumes is that they don’t have to be soaked or cooked a long time like beans and some other dried legumes do. Lentils can be cooked in only 20 minutes without any soaking, and red split lentils cook in about 15 minutes. The red ones tend to be sweeter while the other colors are more nutty, so choose whichever variety you enjoy.
Lentils can be used in soups, stews, added to salads and make a fantastic replacement to meat for a vegetarian/vegan option. If you’re not into beans or don’t like them, give lentils a try. They are a phenomenal food to lower blood sugar levels because they take a long time to digest but pack big amounts of nutrition.
Final Tips to Lower Blood Sugar Levels
While diet is important to manage blood sugar levels, so is overall lifestyle. Adequate sleep, enough water intake, and getting movement each day are all important factors that can promote lower blood sugar levels around the clock. Some people find that eating several times a day works better for them while others find they do best with three larger meals throughout the day. Test out both to see which works for you, and listen to your body. Prioritize eating real foods with a balanced intake of protein, fiber, and healthy fats throughout the day for overall healthier blood sugar levels as much as possible.
Other foods worth mentioning for lower blood sugar levels are coconut butter, dark chocolate, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, other nuts and seeds, most all vegetables, greens, fiber-rich fruits like berries and apples, and even black coffee. Remember, there’s no need to deprive yourself when taking care of your body but choosing high-quality, real foods is key.

Video from WaysAndHow
Three weeks ago I wrote an article about my friend who went from being worth $100M to being homeless. When I posted the article, I didn’t tell my friend about it. After the article had been up for a few days, I sent him an iMessage with a link to the article, having no idea what could happen.
Would he be angry with me for sharing his story? Would he tell me that some parts were wrong? Or, what I hoped, would it help him in some small way?
No one understood his story like I did. No one knew every detail like I did. No one took the bias away and just presented the facts.
So how did one blog article I wrote change everything for my friend?
Well, it started when he sent me an iMessage back to say he was deeply touched. That may seem insignificant, but this man is not the sort of person to show any emotion or use these types of words.
He then called me that night and told me he really liked the article and that he shared it with his wife who was there when the millions existed, and still there when the money went away. She had seen her daughters have no home to go to and nothing to eat – yet she still had hope.
My friend told me that his wife hadn’t seen their story presented in this way before and she was pleased. At the time, it seemed like something had changed just ever so slightly with him. It’s as if the fact that someone other than himself, as well of the millions of Addicted2Success followers, believed in him all of a sudden.
Up until this point in time, he was entirely reliant on his own optimism to keep battling through even though he continued to fall behind on his rent, lose another family home, and start all over. The amount of times he hit a rough period of his life just seemed to go on forever.
Like I said before, this man is as great and as a brilliant as Steve Jobs, as financially savvy as Warren Buffet, as sophisticated as any CEO of a Fortune 500 company, yet if you looked at him right now, you would never know it.
If you saw him in the supermarket struggling to pay for groceries each week, you would never know what he was capable of. You would never know the business genius that is standing before you.
Back to what I was saying when I spoke to him it was as if he had a different sense of belief that he didn’t have before. He started to see his hard times as something to celebrate. He then told me in his own way that he was going back to his true passion that made him rich in the first place and he was never going back to anything else.
The universe brings a blast from the past
My friend finally had some other people around him that he aspired to and in under a week, his luck already seemed to change. He went to negotiate his first real business deal, nearly got swindled, and then he was saved by an old school friend.
I mean what are the odds? The odds that somebody he went to school with would happen to be part of the same business deal as him and give him the one bit of information he needed to make some real money.
The deal he was looking at had been looked at by many people before him and everyone turned it down. What everyone before him didn’t know was that this opportunity was a gold mine, but you had to be prepared to look beyond the initial problems of the deal.
See, when others are scared to take an opportunity for all it’s worth even with its flaws, and back themselves 100%, that’s when entrepreneurship is truly at it’s highest within a person.
The next thing that happened took me by even greater surprise. My friend messaged me and asked me about motivational speakers. He didn’t tell me why he wanted to know this information, but he didn’t have too – it was clear.
He thought that if Addicted2Success readers saw value in his story, then who else could benefit from it? I know he is now sitting at home thinking about how he can finally follow his passion and help others at the same time. Don’t be surprised if you see him on the speaking circuit soon.
This is as far as the story has gone in a week but as you can see, all of us have the power to create change and move even the most unemotional people. It’s when you are able to have this effect on someone that you start to feel truly fulfilled.
How cool is it that this site has the power to literally change someone and help my friend see himself in a new way? This platform is ever so powerful, and I will continue to use it to create breakthroughs. Like the famous quote says, “be the change that you want to see in the world.”
Don’t let life pass you by, stuck in the same pattern day in and day out. Take a moment (through blogging if you want) to observe what you’re doing and how you can genuinely serve others. Bring yourself back to the present and stop trying to escape your reality.
It’s taken my friend nearly a decade to escape his nightmare, but even the most horrific situations will heal with time, and help you to rise up to your life’s purpose. He has a long way to go yet but through these dark times, a small pocket of light will always remain.
As you ignore the darkness and concentrate on this one pocket of light, it grows bigger just a little bit each day.
The road is long and treacherous for everyone. Whether it is the celebrities that we envy or the social media stars we admire, everyone has the same battles; it ’s just that some choose to be vulnerable and share them with others for the greater good, and others choose to pretend they don’t exist.
Either way, we will all have that one day on earth when we come to the realization that we are very powerful individuals and that what we think is what becomes reality. When something seems challenging, choose growth instead of avoiding the situation.
When something doesn’t work out how you want it to, choose to think positively rather than getting stuck in the negative thinking that will create more pain for you. Your pain equals your success. Your success is your life story. Change your story, and you will change your life!
What has been the most transformational blog post you have read? How did it affect you?
“Cash rules everything around me, cream get the money, dollar dollar bills ya’ll”, are famous lyrics rapped by none other than the infamous hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan. Albeit, not overly eloquent in its execution, the sentiment is undeniably true. Pretty much every step in our life is governed by our monetary circumstances, meaning that balancing the books is a fine art.
So, if you’re not one of the lucky few who was born into an oil baron’s family or you didn’t invent a social media page that went bonkers, you’re probably apart of huge crop of individuals experiencing the challenge of getting on top of payments and struggling to save.
When looking at the old bank account, the knot in your throat might be suggesting a visit to a public library or prompt you to Google, “free things to do in my city this weekend” as a few tears pour out, (but only a few, the lack of sustenance you can afford will only produce so much!) Don’t fear, unless you live in Mogadishu or Kabul, there are plenty of ways to live like the Wolf of Wall Street and still fulfil your cash money goals.
So, where to? It all starts with budget and planning. Yes, the old ‘budgeting’, approach. No doubt we’ve all heard this method a hundred times from parents or that annoying accounting student we all know. It’s constantly mentioned for a reason; it works. It doesn’t matter if you’re earning mega benjamins or only a few, you have to look at what is coming in versus what is going out.
This helps you work out where you money is going and can then help you develop a strategy to start racking up pennies. Once you got a budget, you can then plan expenses by planning your life. You can plan a week of meals, transport, social hangs, whatever, meaning there will be no surprise costs that strike up like a jack in the box leading you to sing for extra coins at the train station.
We all have essentials and desirables. One obviously takes a bigger priority for quality of living, but here a few tips to merge those wants into your everyday hustle.
We all gotta eat. For your everyday life though, buy in bulk. With your grocery expenses buy for most meals of the week. Leave a few meals spare for eating out with mates and/or romantic mates. Yes, I feel ya, you’re probably thinking,”Eating out?! Isn’t that the worst? So expensive”. You’re not wrong, however don’t worry, I got you. As long as you’re not dining out everyday, there are plenty of ways to eat out on a budget.
First move, get on social media, no not to perve on hot people or watch funny cat videos, get on there and follow any local restaurants, bistros, diners, bars, if it serves food, follow it. Food businesses and eateries are always posting deals, ranging from 2 for 1’s, discount hours, special offers, events, it’s how they market and build customers, why not take advantage?
For budgeting purposes you can save bulk dimes and still enjoy the luxury of someone else cooking you up a feast.
2. Stay Fashion Relevant
You might remember that moment at school when you’re sported new sneakers or mad clothes and the whole class was like “Damnnnn!!!!”. Contrarily, you also might remember that moment where you got picked on for wearing daggy threads or looking like a Kmart mannequin. Fearing that the latter may come again due to budget constraints? Stay calm, a world of affordable and trending fashion is out there.
Companies like Asos, H&M, Zara, the Iconic, present magic and freaking awesome options for styling up a storm. Forget about the last catalogue of Abercrombie and Fitch and Ralph Lauren, you can pick up quality plain tops, sweaters, shirts, pants, jackets, shoes for anywhere between $10 to $40 and look fit for anything from a fashion show to an ivy league party.
The rise of the hipster and serious gentrification has meant picking up second hand apparel is also a cheap and stylish option. Fortunately, op shops are everywhere so get rummaging. The world of fashion is no longer all about labels, it’s about style and there a plenty of sources available to maintain yours on a budget.
3. Date Nights
Candlelight: the perfect real-life Instagram filter.
You don’t have to hire Hitch to spark romance or maintain it. Staying in with your significant or attractive other provides great ways to inspire love, cuddles, romance and even savings on the finance scene. Ever heard of “Netflix and Chill?” Yes, while the term has its dubious associations, it is a darn impressive service full of great, versatile content for just over $10 a month. There’s something for everyone and every mood.
Cosy up on the couch and watch classics or discover new favourites. Don’t hesitate to follow your local cinema on social media if you prefer a bigger screen, just like restaurants, they’ll be promoting hot deals too. Or, If you happen to be a Masterchef, cooking in at home can serve up a dish of good times and speaks for itself when saving cash.
If you’re going to, make something edgy like burritos, arancini balls, something that is fun. Pair this with a bottle of wine or drink of preference, light a few cheap candles, dim the lights and voila, you’re on your way to recreating a scene from The Notebook. To throwback a few paragraphs, pair your date/s with a local dinner deal, even better!
4. Bulk Gains, For Less Cash
Provided you’re not living under a rock or militantly disbelieve basic science, exercise is pretty important when it comes to your health. Luckily, we live in a time of #fitspiration. In a nutshell, you don’t have to fork out bags of cash to stay fit and healthy, nor have you ever had to. There are plenty of cheap, small 24 hour gyms that offer more than enough for your everyday sweat and shred production.
If budget doesn’t permit, your heartbeat can still be increased by more than just your financial anxieties. The internet is a great place to resource intel on exercise. Take notes, then hit your local park or lounge room floor and get sweating. Remember that push-ups, sit-ups, squats, running are all free and still widely used in military and professional sporting team programs. Last I checked, those guys are pretty cut.
If you’re chasing zen, check your local council or shire as many throw free Yoga and Tai Chi classes. For more #healthyliving tips on the cheap, follow fitness fanatics or athletes on social media outlets to get even more daily workout and exercise tips. Do you even lift? No excuses.
5. Grind and Hustle
“I need a dollar, dollar, dollar man what I need,” Aloe Blacc isn’t wrong. Having an actual income when assessing finances and budget is a pretty good start, (obviously). But if you’re unlucky enough to be working hard for less, or just need more capital on top of your paycheck, the world is your oyster to make a few extra scraps.
With a global service like Uber, you can drive up the figures displayed in your bank account. All you need is a car that meets the required specs imposed by Uber, and then let the extra cash floodgates open. If you’re not riding dirty in the vehicle game, there are plenty of creative alternatives.
For example, roll deep with a couple of canines providing your own dog walking business. Not only does it give you great company, it’s also a method to integrate fitness while earning dosh. If you’re one of those weird people allergic or just don’t happen to like pooches, look to jobs posted on things like Gumtree or Craigslist. House-sitting, cleaning or even selling some of your possessions are easy and generally stress free ways to generate remuneration.
Failing these options, pick up a part-time job at a bar or restaurant, a fantastic place to earn wages, get cash tips, and socialise. Eat, sleep, earn, repeat
Alright, we may have overstepped the mark when saying live like royalty. Unfortunately that privilege is only destined for a select crop of lucky individuals. So if you’re eating rice in the dark in your apartment, with bills coming in while seeing your friends tagged in photos out and about, turn that frown upside down.
There are countless methods to live a stimulating and adventurous life on a budget. Need help budgeting? Why not seek out a professional wealth advisor, the pay-off from an investment like this could be the ticket you need to your financial success. At the end of the day, it’s your life, your money, your budget, your goals, treat yourself where you can and know full well the world offers more than just paying the man.
For many people reaching their 30th birthday is a milestone, as it is the age of settling down and having a family. This is when the adventure spirit is detronated from time to time by the spirit of cuddling down with the cat and loved one on the couch. But before you put away the backpack, you should make sure you’ve ticked off the list of all the best things this world has to offer for you.
Here is the bucket list of the 30 things to do around the world before you turn 30!
1. See all the seven continents
Each country has its unique adventures and its unique culture, but you can’t say you’ve seen them all until you’ve traveled on all the seven continents. Don’t limit yourself to Europe or America: spread your 20something wings across the entire world, even Antarctica. It will be hard, but the rewards are more than worth the risks and efforts!
2. Ride a large animal – not a horse
There is nothing more amazing than visiting the jungle on the back of an elephant! On the same level of awesomeness is seeing the pyramids on the back of a camel. The connection between you and the animal is going to be amazing and you will be astonished at how gentle a giant can be, especially one which is a wild animal, deep inside.
3. Ride the bicycle across a country
This is one of the things to do around the world which doesn’t suit everyone – you have to be in top health to ride the bicycle on large distances, but if you can do it, do it! You will be exposed to the people and you will get in touch with the local culture directly, which is a completely different experience compared to the car exploring experience.
4. Explore the Everest in a hiking trip
All treks are important challenges which require a solid pair of shoes and a fit body, among other things. The experience of exploring the Everest in a hiking trip is going to bring you amazing memories which will last a lifetime. There are many treks, ranging from easy to difficult and you will reach dizzying heights – literally! But the height is not going to be the only thing to cut your breathe short, as the scenery is amazing. Don’t forget to include the Seven Summits on your mountain trekking list.
5. Visit an Aboriginal village and live like a local for a month
Natives have a different view upon life, which can broaden your own perspective on the world. You can visit a Native’s village and enjoy a meal and a dance or take it to another level and spend a month living like a local. You can also travel to a foreign country and blend in with the locals, if you want to embrace another nation’s culture.
6. Taste the blues in Chicago
Few people understand blues and one of the reason for this is because music is focused on commercial power these days. The best way to taste the real blues is to hang out in a blues bar in Chicago.
7. Travel by train across multiple countries
One of memorable things to do around the world is traveling by train. I don’t mean going from A to B, but crossing Europe by train or traveling across India by train. This transportation allows you to watch the country closely and taste the diversity of the regions you are crossing.
8. Participate in a carnival
You don’t know how to party until you’ve been dancing the week away with Brazilians at the great carnival parade, unleashing your crazy nature during Mardi Gras or lighting lanterns in the Asian New Year celebrations. Not to mention the masquerade in Venice!
9. Volunteer abroad
Traveling as a tourist is great, but you need to see the other side of the world as well. The side where poverty is the norm. Volunteer abroad for one month or more and learn the value of a helping hand. Each volunteer changes the world one word and task at a time and being part of this is going to make you more aware of all the things you take for granted in your daily life. You will also learn the value of a smile!
10. Meet your favorite writer
If you are lucky enough to love a writer who is still living, spare nothing to meet him and let him or her know how much their writings mean for you. The same thing is valid for your favorite actor, musician or another person who inspired you.
11. Do heli-skiing
New, exciting and adventurous. Definitely one of the things to do around the world before you turn 30!
12. Swim with sharks, dolphins and whales
One of the thrilling experiences in life is swimming with a wild animal. Dolphins are great swimming partners; so are whale sharks and sharks. Swimming with a whale shark is a powerful experience and you will acknowledge the smallness of a human being, as well as the gentle soul of a wild animal. When it comes to sharks, they are pure adrenaline! You can feed them and watch them closely during a cage dive in Australia or Africa.
13. Have a book which inspired you to travel the world? Then recreate the path in the book.
14. Visit an active volcano
Active volcanoes are dangerous, but there are couple of them which can be visited. You can climb on top of the volcano and witness the bubbling lava making small explosions and creating hot water geezers at the top of the volcano.
15. Travel with a caravan on the famous Silk Road.
16. Roll a havana in Cuba
Havana cigars can’t be compared with a regular cigar and the experience of smoking one in Cuba, its original land, is memorable. Just like the next entry on the list, there is something about having a traditional delight in the land where it was first made.
17. Drink a Guinness in Dublin
Dublin is where the story of the unique dark beer Guinness began, which makes it the perfect place to have a drink. No other country can provide you with the same taste as drinking a Guinness in Dublin, so this is one of the things to do around the world before you turn 30 or right on that day!
18. Spend the night at one of the most haunted places in the world
Depending on where you want to “enjoy” the chills, you can pick the famous Lizzy Borden Bead and Breakfast located in Fall River, Massachusetts, the Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana or jump on the American Haunting Tour to get more frighting experiences. The rest of the world is also filled with scary places where ghosts are the real owners, so regardless if you believe in their existance or not, spend a night in a haunted building.
19. Attend the Christmas Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in Vienna.
20. Go Sky Diving in Abel Tasman
Abel Tasman is the capital of adventures, so this is the best place in the world to sky dive. Enjoy the stunning view of the earth from above as you jump off a plane at 1600 feet! To be able to survive the jump you will be equipped with an oxygen container.
21. Fly a stunt plane in New Zealand
Another entry on the list of things to do around the world which is not for the fainthearted ones: fly a plane. Not any plane, a stunt plane, which shows you what it means to do loops in the air. In New Zealand any person can become a stunt pilot for couple of minutes, as you are allowed to control the plane under the watchful eyes of a trained professional pilot who can take control over the plane at any moment.
22. Hug a Koala in Australia. Because they are cute and hugable!
23. Enjoy kayaking… among crocodiles.
This one is a bit stupid – Ok, it’s very stupid!, but it’s also the most adrenaline boosting thing on this list. In South Africa you can take kayaking to another level: you can embark on the kayak and go down the stream in waters filled with crocodiles, hippos and other nasty creatures which could easily snack on you.
24. Drive a Ferrari
You don’t have to be a millionaire or Jeremy Clarkson to drive a Ferrari: you can do this in Italy, at La Modena. Enjoy couple of laps with the red icon and then toast to the Italian engineers.
25. Swing over a huge abyss
The swing of the little house located on a cliff in Banos, Ecuador looks like it’s ready to entertain a child, but this is no toy, because it swings over a 2660 meters abyss. La Casa del Arbol is where you will find the Swing at the End of the World, which doesn’t have any safety devices attached to it. You just hop on the swing, a simple piece of wood connected by two metal rods and swing! If you dare!
26. Go Snorkeling in Galapagos
Galapagos has unique wildlife, so it’s the perfect place to go snorkeling. You can watch the amazing animals, which are all well fed, so the danger of attacks is really low. 27. Go to the beach. Nude!
Sunbathing nude is one of those things to do around the world at least once in a lifetime. Don’t keep anything on – your skin is the only cover you need. To make the experience more interesting, travel to Spiaggia di Guvano, Corniglia, Italy, where you will be greeted by an isolated, small beach where the locals come to enjoy the sun and the sea in the nude.
28. Go Dirt Biking

Pick your favorite charity and run a marathon, even if you will be mostly walking instead of running. The joy of reaching the finish line is worth the effort.

We all want to have great looking hair. But, no amount of styling, products, coloring, perms, etc. are going to help if your hair isn’t in terrific shape. Even chemically treated hair can be soft, shiny, and luxurious, if you are properly taking care of it. Here are 10 tips that will help you have awesome hair that even complete strangers will want to touch.
1. Brush before Washing
We all lose up to 100 hairs, or more, per day, and when you wash it, that hair goes right down the drain. Protect your drain from clogs by brushing before you wash. This will also get rid of tangles, and open energize your scalp.
2. Condition the Ends Only
You don’t need to condition your whole head. In fact, doing this can cause your hair to look oily. Unless your scalp is very dry, only condition three quarters of your hair, and leave the top quarter free of conditioner.
3. Use Silk Pillowcases
Silk is better for your skin, and it helps to keep moisture in your hair. Cotton pillowcases will suck the moisture out. Satin may cost a bit more, but it is definitely worth it (it feels pretty luxurious too).
4. Massage Your Scalp
If you want to have long, luxurious hair, start massaging your scalp every time you wash your hair. Not only does it feel terrific, it helps to increase the blood flow to your scalp. This will help your hair to grow faster and longer, and make your roots a lot stronger. It also helps to relieve stress and headache pain.
5. Use a Wide Toothed Comb
When combing through wet hair, or getting rid of tangles, use a wide toothed comb. Other combs, and brushes, will break your hair, keeping it from looking great. Keep a wide toothed comb in the shower, and comb through your hair with conditioner in to get rid of tangles.
6. Squeeze Dry Your Hair
Instead of using a towel to dry your hair, squeeze it dry with paper towels. You won’t end up with the frizzies this way, and more water is absorbed than with a regular towel, so your hair dries faster.
7. Use a Split End Mask
Using a home-made mask can help prevent split ends from happening, and keeps your hair looking good and shiny. These masks are easy to make, using ingredients you probably already have around your kitchen. A great mixture is one egg yolk, three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and one tablespoon of raw hone. Apply to the ends of your hair, sit for an hour or longer, and rinse. Repeat once every two weeks.
8. Filter Your Shower Water
The chemicals found in water, such as chlorine, fluorine compounds, salts, minerals, and even rust, can be very damaging to your hair. You don’t need to upgrade your water system though. Simply buy a shower filter, which you can get at any hardware store.
9. Steam Spiral Curls
Your curling iron is slowly destroying your hair by burning the ends and drying it out. Create spiral curls with steam rollers. You can do your hair as quickly as you would with the iron, but without the damage. An added bonus is that you won’t burn yourself, which often happens with curling irons.
10. Use a Humidifier
No, humidity is not the enemy, even though people with curls may think it is. If the air is dry, your hair is going to dry out, and it isn’t going to look good. Running a humidifier in your home will provide the moisture in the air that your hair needs to stay healthy and look terrific.
