3 Strategies to Attract Opportunities into Your Life

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/R15h3uKi17w/3-strategies-attract-opportunities-into-your-life

Interview at work

Feeling stagnant?

You don’t attract opportunities because you are not upgrading

I often get asked by my coaching clients: “How can I get more opportunities in my life?”

This is a really important question. New opportunities enable us to advance in our lives and careers as a result of an abundance of options to choose from. In the case where we seldom get a chance to upgrade our current situation through new possibilities, it is a common occurrence to feel stagnant, unhappy and unproductive.

Most people will assume that inability to attract opportunities is directly tied to lack of passion and merely waiting for a miracle to appear out of the blue. However, this is not the entire truth. There are two elements to successfully attracting new opportunities.

Want progress? Do something new and work on your ‘attractiveness’

To get something you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.” –Unknown.

This thought-provoking statement suggests that people stay in their own comfort zone and fail to broaden their horizons. As a result, they often resign from their plans too early and settle for mediocrity. Surprisingly, these are often disciplined people who work hard for their living and are respected members of our society.

The second and not-so-obvious element is the fact that our inner self reflects in our external environment. The truth is you have to shift existing behaviors and mindset in order to attract opportunities. Favorable circumstances and success come to the ‘attractive’ people who develop ‘inner beauty’, often meet new people, build new relationships and form new business partnerships. It is vital to work on personal development and on character development.

Apply these 3 strategies to attract new opportunities

1. Surround yourself with success.

There is a saying: “You earn the average income of the 5 people you spend the most time with”. Your environment is crucial to your happiness. Successful people have winning habits, strategies and ‘attractive’ personalities. By spending time with them, you will subconsciously start to model these behaviors. Likewise, negative people significantly impact their surroundings, often lacking ambition and spreading pessimistic thoughts.

2. Get out of your comfort zone.

Staying in a familiar environment is comfortable because you know what to expect. However, by not stepping out of a comfortable environment, new things will seldom occur in your life. The aim is to create opportunities by stepping outside the comfort zone instead of waiting for them. Otherwise, your life will be nothing more than comfortable. Stepping outside of your comfort zone will allow you to meet new people and attract a whole array of new situations.

3. Perform daily routines to shape your character.

A strong and attractive character is a result of systematic practice. One of my favorite quotes is “where attention goes, energy flows – results show”. Good conduct and behavior are results of our thoughts and habits. If you are able to set out behaviors that you will repeat daily, your character will be transformed and opportunities will appear as a result. For instance, you could have a morning and evening routines to prioritize and reflect on your current tasks.

How to succeed in the long-term? Use self-reflection and be consistent

Usually people regret things they didn’t do when they had the chance to try. Attracting new opportunities is not down to just luck – step out of your comfort zone and start working on a brand of attractiveness which consists of your character, heart and spirit. The key is to do monthly or quarterly self-reflection activities to evaluate your progress and analyze new areas requiring development. It is important to be systematic in your actions, as they will increase your chances in the long term to attract plenty of new opportunities.

3 Ideas How to Turn Your Trash into Treasure

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/sBFs77Y1BDY/3-ideas-how-turn-your-trash-into-treasure

F1

There is a lot of pollution in the modern world. Whether it is air, water, or some other kind of contamination, people just don’t seem to care about the environment. Moreover, a lot of people still do not recycle, which only leads to creating more trash. This trash does not only look bad, but it also destroys natural habitats and further pollutes vast areas of the planet. However, if you want to be a good citizen of this planet and contribute to its health, you could start off by reusing and recycling.

Whatever “trash” you might think you have, like plastic bottles or wood crates, instead of throwing them away, you could make something out of them. Every old thing can find a new use. Therefore, use your imagination and get to work. Not only could you make your home look great, but you could also sell those creations and earn a little bit of cash on the side. Speaking of, here are a few ideas on how you could turn your trash into treasure.

1. Make furniture out of pallets

image01

If you, by any chance, have some old pallets lying around, or you know where to find them cheap, you could turn them into something useful. For example, if you have a balcony or a front porch, you could make a few furniture pieces. Something like a sofa, chairs or even a coffee table. Even better, you could put this furniture inside your home. And, if you like this idea, here is how to pull it off.

In case you are not very handy, you can make the easier type of pallet sofa. But for this, you will need several pallets. First up, sanding the wood is a must. This will make it smoother and better. Moreover, you won’t cut or scratch yourself and it will protect any cloth from being damaged. Once you are finished with sanding, you can paint the wood in any colour, or just put a coat of protective lacquer.

Then, depending on how many pieces you want (two-seaters or a corner sofa) and the height, connect two pieces of pallets one on top of the other. You can connect them with screws for more safety, but this is not necessary. On top of the pallet, you should put some cushions, for a more comfortable seating experience.

Additionally, you can design it with or without the back – it is all up to you. And, if you want a coffee table, just make a stack of two pallets, for example. Sand and paint the wood, and that is it. For easier movement, you can put small wheels on the bottom.

There are many other options as well, but what you want to make depends on your time and skills. Other than sofas, you can make tables, shelves, bars or even swings.

2. Use bottle caps in various ways

image02

Everyone knows bottles could be re-purposed once emptied. Whether plastic or glass, each can find its new role. For instance, you can make chandeliers out of glass bottles or vases. There are many ideas that could be realized. However, if you use the bottle, the bottle cap will be left behind. Now, these tiny objects seem useless, but this is pretty far from the truth.

From jewelry and accessories, to home décor – bottle caps just cry DIY. No matter the type, the caps can be made into bottle cap art with little to no effort. All you need is an idea and a bit of time on your hands. For instance, the first thing you can try to make is some kind of wall art.

Using differently coloured caps, you can make shapes, and you can put your new works of art up on your wall. If, however, you want to freshen up your kitchen, you could make fridge magnets by gluing the magnet on the bottom of the cap. Or, you can make coasters for both glasses and pans. You would do this by connecting the caps with a wire.

If you get stuck in the design process, you can paint the caps or collect a specific drink cap, which would definitely make your DIY project unique.

3. Make flower pots out of old tires

image03

If you are a keen gardener and you want your yard to look marvelous, add some flare to it by reusing old car tires. Instead of buying ceramic or plastic flower pots, use your tires, which will last longer. They can withstand any kind of weather; therefore, they are perfect for the garden.

First of all, plan the outline of your garden, like where do you want your flowers to be and in how big a space. Then, get yourself some tires, perhaps in various sizes. If you do not want them to remain black, you can buy spray paint and paint them in different colours. This would make your garden look more lively and fun, and the colours would go great with the flowers.

Once you are all equipped with the essentials, position the tires where you want them. For example, you can stack them on top of each other, or you can put them next to one another. Lastly, fill them with dirt, plant the flowers, and that is it. All you have to do now is keep your flowers healthy and alive.

This DIY task is really easy and quick. Usually, old tires can be found in a landfill, or you can even try your nearest mechanic. When it comes to spray painting, that is simple too. Clearly, this task can be done by anyone, in just a few hours.

Obviously there are lots and lots of items that could be recycled, and even more items to be made out of them. Anything from bottles, old clothes, or pallets could be made useful again. The only things you need, for any of the DIY project above, are will and imagination. Everything else will come easy.

Don’t Believe These 5 Credit Card Lies

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/tSEXNU_hpQ8/dont-believe-these-5-credit-card-lies

Flickr Lifehack

No matter where you turn, someone’s giving advice about credit cards — bankers, bloggers, credit counselors, frequent flyers, and more. The problem is, much of it is either contradictory or self-serving.

We’re here to separate fact from fiction.

Lie 1: You Shouldn’t Cancel Credit Cards

If you call up your credit card company and tell them you want to cancel your credit card, here’s what they tell you, “Sir, you might want to reconsider as cancelling your credit card could have a negative impact on your credit score.”

Well, isn’t that convenient? The truth is, if you have a credit card with an annual fee and you’re not getting any value from it, you should cancel it. If you have trouble with self-control and you want to get rid of your credit cards, cancel them all — if you don’t carry a balance, it will have zero impact on your score.

The only time you should think twice is if you carry a balance, then cancelling your credit card may increase your credit utilization by over 30%. But even if it does, if you’re going to pay your balance down in the short term, it won’t have a huge impact on your score.

Lie 2: You Lose Your Credit History When You Cancel A Credit Card

Again, your bank is all too willing to feed this myth. Why should you lose your history of payments if you cancel a credit card? Just think of the inverse. If you charge-off a credit card (never pay the bill), the credit card company closes your account. However, you can’t shake that thing for 7 years! If you close a good account, it can stay on your credit history as long as 10 years — so there’s no need to worry. Whether your account was closed voluntarily or involuntarily, its history will stay on your credit for years to come.

Lie 3: You Shouldn’t Have Too Many Credit Cards

Says who? The nervous ninny who proselytizes that we should all cut up our cards and put them in the freezer. For those among us who are responsible enough, there is tons of value in churning through welcome bonus offers. One person even has 1,497 credit cards! Your credit score will not be affected in the slightest by having more than one credit card. The only thing you will want to do is space your credit card applications out a little — bunching up your applications can temporarily decrease your score.

Lie 4: You Need To Carry A Balance To Get A Good Credit Score

What’s that? You need to be in debt to have a good credit score? No, you don’t. If you use your credit card and pay down 100% of the balance every month, your credit score will increase just as much as if you were to keep a little balance. The reason? Even though you’re paying down your balance every month, the bank is still lending you money from the time you made your purchase to the time you paid the bank back. As a result, you’ve proven yourself credit-worthy in the eyes of the bank.

Lie 5: Loyalty Pays

No it doesn’t. In the credit card game, loyalty never pays. How many times has your existing credit card company offered you an annual fee waiver and a free return flight to anywhere in North America? Only once — when you first got the card. We never get a retention bonus as big as a new customer bonus. It just never happens. The lesson is to keep getting new cards so you can take advantage of the biggest credit card bonuses out there. Don’t be a sucker, there’s a reason why the guy with 1,497 credit cards has so many cards and been to 10 times the number of places you’ve been to.

12 Homemade Treatments To Get Rid Of Dandruff Quickly

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/rjyPF2LCPOQ/12-homemade-treatments-to-get-rid-of-dandruff-quickly

get rid of dandruff

Dandruff can be a very embarrassing condition to have because it is so noticeable to others, but many people have had or will have dandruff at some point in their life. People who have dandruff are always looking for ways to eliminate those white flakes for good, but since there are so many different dandruff treatments out there, it can be difficult to choose the best one for you. While some treatments are permanent, others turn out to be temporary. When eliminating dandruff, most people understandably want to find a permanent solution; one that will keep flakes at bay forever.

Depending on the cause of your dandruff, this can be done, but you may have to make a small change in your hair and skin care habits to keep the dandruff away. Dandruff can be caused by hair product sensitivity, skin conditions, and not shampooing enough, but the most common cause is dry skin. Here are 12 treatments you can do or make at home that have been proven to get rid of dandruff:

1. Change Your Hair Product

Sometimes dandruff can be eliminated simply by changing the styling products you use or applying less product than you normally do. If you prefer to let an extra day go by before you wash your hair, try styling your hair on the second day with homemade cocnut oil hairspray. The coconut oil will provide the moisture your scalp needs and will be less likely to flake in your hair.

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and pour into an empty, clean spray bottle.
  2. Add 1 cup of filtered water and 3 drops of lavender essential oil (it will make your hair smell clean).
  3. Shake before spraying on dry, damp or wet hair.

2. Coconut Oil Will Get Rid of Dandruff

Since a dry scalp is the most common cause of dandruff, it’s no surprise that coconut oil is an effective treatment for dandruff. 1. Wash your hair, but do not apply any conditioner and dry your hair completely.
  2. Apply as much cocunut oil as you need to cover your scalp.
  3. Try not to rub the oil on the rest of your hair, unless you want to use it as a hair treatment at the same time.
  4. Wash the oil out and style as usual.

3. Eggs are a Surprising Dandruff Eliminator

  1. Juice a half to 1 lemon and apply the juice to your scalp and hair
  2. Let it sit about 25 minutes – your scalp may itch during this time, but this is a normal reaction to the treatment
  3. Wash your hair as usual

10. Turmeric

This spice has so many benefits for the inside of the body and some surprising ones for the outside as well. Turmeric is just as effective in getting rid of dandruff as it is for other ailments it cures.

  1. Mix together 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and either 2 tablespoons of coconut oil or olive oil
  2. Massage the paste into your scalp, trying to avoid the rest of your hair
  3. Let it sit for at least 1 hour, up to 3 if you can
  4. Wash your hair as usual

11. Bananas are a Surprising Way to Get Rid of Dandruff

shutterstock_328348772

Banana treatment is not recommended for those who struggle with a more severe dandruff problem. If you are just starting to notice dandruff, a banana paste can help to eliminate it at this stage.

  1. Peel one banana and mix it with either 2 cups of vinegar or 2 tablespoons of honey
  2. Mix together until it forms a paste
  3. Massage into your scalp, covering all of your hair for about 10 minutes
  4. Let it sit for 15 minutes
  5. Rinse or wash it out and repeat once a day for at least 1 week

12. Drink More Water

dandruff water Stylecraze

via Pinterest

This is definitely not a short-term solution, but if you have dandruff because of dry skin, the best thing you can do to eliminate dandruff in the long run is to make sure your body is properly hydrated. The inside of your body is not the only part of you that will benefit from drinking the right amount of water; your skin, scalp and hair will thank you as well. If drinking water is hard for you, try adding a little lemon juice for a fresh taste. Find a water bottle with a straw, because sipping through a straw will help to hydrate you better than drinking a glass of water all at once. You should aim for at least 2 litres of water per day.

How To Get Over Someone You Deeply Love

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/SElz-8VI1vs/how-to-get-over-someone-you-deeply-love

love-loss

When a relationship ends, it can be immensely heartbreaking. We all cope with breakups in our own individual way with some people seemingly getting over someone quickly while others take a lot longer. If you feel you’re one of those people who take ages to recover from a breakup then you are definitely not alone. We are always told that after the initial shock and sadness that it’s plain sailing from there on in. But is this really the case? Getting out there again can seem extremely daunting or not even close to being on our radar and this is okay. It’s okay to feel sad and numb for a while, after all, it is a grieving process and it needs to be seen through to the end before we can start to heal ourselves.

Whatever stage you’re at, whether you’re at the beginning or perhaps it’s been months or years and you still find yourself mourning over the relationship, it’s all normal. As much as they feel rubbish, your negative feelings and emotions are leading you on to the road to recovery so don’t feel bad for still feeling them – it just means you’re still healing and that’s a good thing. There are many actions you can take that will help you move in a positive direction; allowing yourself to heal while shifting your mindset to one of recovery and peace.

Remember There’s No Time Limit

The first thing that’s important to remember is that there really isn’t a time limit to how long it’ll take to get over someone you love. You have probably heard the phrase ‘time’s a healer’ and it is – but this also makes us feel pressured to get over something quicker than we can. We feel ashamed if it’s been months or even years and we still don’t feel we’ve moved on. Always remember that it’s okay. Don’t beat yourself up about taking your time to heal as there really is no time limit.

Let Yourself Feel Your Emotions

Negative emotions are often demonised and we are made to feel as though feeling sad, angry and hurt is not good for us. We absolutely need to go through the grieving process and that brings denial, anger, blame, depression, desperation, false hope and many more in between. Often these emotions go around in circles so it can feel as though you’re getting over it but then some come back to whack you straight in the face again. It may feel like the hurt is endless but remember to go with it – accept the feelings for what they are; a means to an end.

Remove Your Ex From Social Media and Your Phone

In this day and age, we are bombarded by other people’s lives. Seeing what your ex is up to is ridiculously easy to do but the problem with this is that you’re not giving yourself space to heal. If you’re finding it hard to let go of someone then you need to consider removing them from all social media including your phone. This may feel like the last thing you want to do but sometimes the best things to do aren’t always the most comfortable. Remember that you are doing this for yourself and no one else. Seeing what they are up to all the time is only opening the emotional wound over and over again and that wound will never have its chance to heal. After the initial sadness of deletion you will feel very empowered and this empowerment will be good for your soul.

Remember To Love Yourself

When we go through a heartbreaking separation, it’s very easy to blame ourselves and believe that we just weren’t good enough for them or the relationship. Even the most confident people can get an attack of unworthiness issues so don’t beat yourself up. However, it’s crucial to remember that your worth is not tied to them – you are your own person. As much as you may think it, your identity is not, and was not, tied to the relationship you had. Remembering to love yourself is probably the most important thing you can do after a breakup.

Write Down How You Feel

There’s a wonderful power in writing things down. Journaling your feelings may seem straight out of a 90s TV show but it has great healing qualities. Write down how you feel, read it back to yourself, throw it away or box it up. Seeing your feelings down on paper can help your mind gain perspective and see things from another point of view. Another great thing to do is to write down a list of all the parts of the past relationship that annoyed or irritated you. A lot of the time we romanticise about the past and remember it better than it was. Writing down the negatives will serve as a reminder and will help when you have moments of relapse.

Turn Your Energy Into Something Positive

Although sitting around eating all the chocolate and binge-watching TV shows is a great thing to do initially, there needs to come a time when being proactive is a must to get our lives going again. If you’re still not up for seeing people or socialising then start an exercise routine. Go running, walking or cycling – anything that will get those endorphins going. Exercise is an excellent catalyst to recovery – it will clear and calm your mind and reduce any stress. Being around people also really helps speed up recovery. Immersing yourself around people who love you serves as a gentle reminder that love doesn’t just exist in romantic relationships – friends and family can help you get out of that funk all the more quickly.

Don’t Hold On To Anger And Blame

Although embracing our negative emotions are good, holding on to anger and blame for too long can have a detrimental effect on ourselves and others. When we spend too much time in a space of blaming the other person for the way we feel, we are taking away our power and essentially giving it to them. It acts as a hinderance to our recovery and makes the process that much longer. Remember that no one is really to blame no matter what happened to end the relationship – bitterness can eat away at you and it’s important to recognise when this is taking over your thoughts and feelings.

Don’t Torture Yourself

It’s very easy to fall into the trap of over-analysing why the relationship ended and wondering if there was something you could have done differently. These thoughts really serve us no purpose other than to torture ourselves. It’s common to fantasise about how you could have done better or regretting something you said or did that you feel could have contributed to the end of the relationship but the reality is that there really is nothing you could have done. Your mind can go into over-drive sometimes but you need to do all you can to calm it down – whether it’s using yoga or meditation techniques or trying to focus on something else entirely.

Remember There Isn’t Just One Person Out There For You

We live on a planet with billions of people. It can feel like that person was the only one for you but we all know that isn’t the case. You probably believe that no one else will make you laugh like that again, or have so much in common with you and yes, that may be true. But everyone is unique in their own way and there will be someone (or many more people) who will connect and bond with you in so many awesome ways. There was a reason that the relationship didn’t work out and it’s simply because you weren’t meant to be together but that doesn’t have to be a sad thought. You grew as a person and that will only serve you well for the next amazing person to enter your life. It might not be soon but it will happen – just have faith it will all work out.

You Will See The Light At The End Of The Tunnel

Fundamentally, you will feel like you are in some kind of darkness for a while. It can be a scary and daunting place especially if you haven’t experienced a serious breakup before. But as much as you probably can’t imagine it or think about it, there will come a day when you’ll come out the other side. It will feel wonderful and natural, you’ll feel whole again, you’ll be able to laugh and smile without thinking of them and most importantly, you will be a stronger and better person because of it. You may feel alone but millions of people have been through the exact same process in their own unique way and have seen the light at the end of the tunnel. Use this as a reminder and a testament to the fact that you will also get through this too.

7 Ways To Improve Your Attitude And Outperform Your IQ

Posted from http://addicted2success.com/motivation/7-ways-to-improve-your-attitude-and-outperform-your-iq/

Many believe that smart people are destined for success. They believe that in order to ‘do well’ in life, you must be blessed with a high IQ.

A high IQ certainly helps with many things, but it’s not a measure of your capability to succeed in life. In fact, renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck’s book – Mindset: How You Can Fulfil Your Potential – reveals quite the opposite. When it comes to performance, attitude is more influential than IQ.

Her research has found that people’s attitudes generally fall into one of two categories: a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. While someone with a fixed mindset believes they cannot change who they are, a person with a growth mindset believes they can improve with effort. Ultimately, the latter allows someone to make mistakes, learn and grow – outperforming their IQ and leading a more successful life in the process.

So how exactly do you improve your attitude, develop a growth mindset and outperform your IQ? Below I have provided 7 ways to do that:

1. Learn to embrace setbacks

It would be nice if life always went to plan – but it never does. Learn to not only cope with setbacks, but actually embrace them. Embracing setbacks allows you to bounce back, learn from mistakes and discover ways to achieve success.

“In other words, don’t expect to always be great. Disappointments, failures and setbacks are a normal part of the lifecycle of a unit or a company and what the leader has to do is constantly be up and say ‘we have a problem, let’s go and get it.” – Colin Powell

2. Be passionate about what you do

American business magnate Warren Buffett – who is considered to be the most successful investor in the world – has often noted that the key to success is finding your passion. Being passionate about what you do is instrumental to your success; if you’re empowered and pursue your passion relentlessly, it becomes possible to compete with those who are perhaps naturally more talented.

3. Overcome fear and take action

The best way to overcome fear and anxiety is to take action. Those with a growth mindset are not inherently braver than others – they just understand this notion and have learnt to overcome these emotions. Turn your fear of failure into positive focussed energy, and do it now because there is no such thing as the perfect moment.

4. Give it your all

Research led by Veronika Job, found that students shouldering a high workload performed better when they believed that willpower was unlimited as opposed to finite. Interestingly, when students who believed in unlimited willpower were subject to greater pressure during their studies, their performance improved even further.

The point here is to push yourself to go the extra mile, even when you’re having a bad day. There is always room for improvement; those with a growth mindset understand that there are no limits to what you can do. There will always be plateaus; you just have to learn to push past them.

5. Don’t let failure dent your expectations

Successful people expect results. When things don’t go according to plan or downright failure ensues, don’t let it dent your expectations. The minute you no longer expect results is the minute you wave goodbye to achieving your goal. When you expect results, you will remain motivated and continue on a path towards success.

6. Become flexible

Fast Company, one of the world’s leading progressive business media brands, once published an article that began with the line “Highly successful people are the ones who have failed the most.” Nothing could be more truthful.

As we all know, failure is inevitable. People with a fixed mindset view failure as a road block, and it stops them from learning and progressing. Those with a growth mindset simply view failure as a learning curve and continue on towards the results they expected – ultimately finding success. Be flexible, dodge those curve balls and continue onwards and upwards!

7. Don’t complain

Okay so there are some moments in life that warrant the expression of your displeasure such as when your housemate or partner fails to do the dishes for five nights running. However, when it comes to your career there is no room for complaints. Complaining is symptomatic of a fixed mindset; look for opportunity in every inconvenience and learn to embrace situations rather than complain about them. You never know when a golden opportunity will present itself!

“The future rewards those who press on. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I’m going to press on.” – Barack Obama

Learn how to change your attitude and develop a growth mindset; it’s far more important to life success than having a high IQ. The best part about your attitude is that it can be altered – anyone can adjust their way of thinking if they’re prepared to work hard and embrace change.

How exactly do you improve your attitude? Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below!

Lately you have been noticing that you are looking more tired and perhaps a bit older than you should. You have seen yourself in the mirror and spotted dark circles under your eyes. You consider using creams but many of the products available are expensive and you are not even sure if they will work. Don’t worry, there are inexpensive alternatives that will make those unwanted dark circles disappear or diminish.  Here are 10 natural remedies that will have you looking younger and spritelier in no time.

What causes dark circles under the eyes?

There are three main causes of dark circles under the eyes. The first is genetics. If you have inherited fair or thin skin under the eyes it is easy to see if blood pools there. The reason blood pull is because fragile capillaries stretch or leak and this can happen when circulation is slow or from lack of sleep. The second cause of dark circles is age. With time skin loses collagen and becomes thinner. This means that veins are more apparent and show through the skin. Finally, seasonal allergies can result in dark circles. “They trigger the release of histamines in the body, which in turn inflame blood vessels and cause swelling,” says Ranella Hirsch, a dermatologist in Boston.

Here are the top 10 ways to get rid of dark circles fast:

1.   Cold compress

When blood vessels near the eyes dilate, the result can be dark circles. You can shrink your blood vessels with the help of a cold compress. You can use a cold compress as follows:

  • Soak a cloth in the cold water or milk.
  • Lie down and close your eyes.
  • Place the cold washed cloth over your eyes.
  • Leave the cloth on your eyes until it is no longer cold.
  • Once the cloth has lost its coldness soak it again and place over the eyes.
  • Repeat this process for approximately 10-15 minutes.
  • Do this 3-4 times a day.

2.   Almond Oil

Almond oil is all natural and is very beneficial for the delicate skin that surrounds the eyes. Lack of Vitamin K and some other antioxidants can also be a cause of dark circles. Almond oil contains vitamin K. This vitamin can help contract the dilate blood vessels. You can use almond oil as follows:

  • When getting ready for bed, apply a little bit of almond oil over the dark circles.
  • Gently massage the almond oil into the skin.
  • Leave overnight.
  • In the morning wash the almond oil off with cold water.
  • Repeat this remedy daily.

3.   Cucumber

Cucumber

Cucumbers have the ability to lighten skin and have mild astringent properties. This helps to sooth the skin around your eyes. Cucumber contains various antioxidants, for example vitexin, cucurbitacins, orientin and isoscoparin. They also contain vitamin K and vitamin C.  These antioxidants and vitamins help reduce discolouration under eyes. You can use cucumbers as follows:

  • Cut a fresh cucumber into thick slices.
  • Refrigerate the slices for 30 minutes.
  • Place the cucumber slices on your eyes for approximately 10 minutes.
  • Wash the area with water.
  • Repeat twice a day for about a week.

4.   Raw Potato

Potatoes can stay cold for a long time and are rich in various antioxidants and vitamin C. Potatoes also contain starch. All these things can help nourish the thin skin around your eyes. • Grate one or two raw potatoes to release the juice.
  • Soak a cotton ball in the juice and place over your closed eyes.
  • Allow the juice to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse well with cool water.
  • Repeat once or twice daily for a few weeks.

5.   Rose Water

Rosewater

The anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties of rose water provides protection against dust, contaminations, itchiness, redness, and inflammation of the eyes and helps reduce the dark circles. You can use rose water as follows:

  • Soak cotton wool in pure rose water for a couple of minutes.
  • Put the cotton wool over your closed eyelids.
  • Leave there for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Repeat this remedy twice daily for a few weeks.

 Try face yoga

To help prevent wrinkles forming around the eyes and to ward of dark circles you can practice face yoga. Place both your middle fingers together between your eyebrows and apply pressure to the outer corner of your eyes with your index fingers. Look up. Make a strong squint by moving your lower eyelids upwards. Relax and repeat six times. When you finish squeeze your eyes shut for 10 second,  and then relax.

Try one or a few of these remedies and you will be surprised by the positive results.
